چکیده

Values of some characteristic parameters of confined explosions for LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas)-air quiescent mixtures are examined in correlation with the initial pressure of fuel-air mixture and fuel/air ratio. The explosion pressures, the explosion times and the maximum rates of pressure rise were obtained from experiments made at ambient initial temperature in two closed vessels with central ignition: a spherical vessel (V = 0.52 L) and a cylindrical vessel (V = 1.12 L; diameter/height = 1.5) using mixtures with variable fuel content ([LPG] = 2.50 – 6.15 vol.%), at total initial pressures within 0.3 1.3 bar. For LPG – air at ambient initial temperature and pressure, the adiabatic explosion pressures and the flame temperatures of isochoric and isobaric combustion were calculated, assuming that chemical equilibrium is reached. The calculated and measured explosion pressures of LPG-air mixtures are compared and discussed taking into account the heat losses during explosion propagation in the two closed vessels.

Effect of Radiation Heat Loss and Ventilation on Dust Explosions in Spherical Vessels

The flame propagation through a coal dust-air mixture in a spherical vessel was studied by means of a one-dimensional, Arrhenius-type kinetics and quasi-steady model. The model includes the evaporation of the volatile matter of dust particles into a known gaseous fuel (methane) and the single-stage reaction of the gas-phase combustion. Effect of venting devices as safety idea and the radiation ...

Numerical and experimental investigation of common rail fuel injection system and evaluating influence of fuel pressure on injection characteristics and pressure fluctuations

The combustion processes, engine performance, fuel consumption, exhaust-gas composition, and combustion noise in the diesel engine are closely linked to appropriate mixture of air-fuel in combustion chamber. The fuel-injection parameters such as injection start point, discharge rate curve, injection time and injection pressure are defined by the quality of the mixture formation. The numerical m...

The effects of added hydrogen to the premixed of methane and air in a MEMS channel

In this paper, the effect of adding hydrogen to the composition of methane and air in a micro combustor is investigated by a three-dimensional numerical method. First, the results of the current study in determining the wall temperature of the micro combustion chamber are compared with those obtained from the experimental and numerical results of the previous research. By confirming the numeric...

Influence of Operational Parameters and Kinetic Modelling of Catalytic Wet Air Oxidation of Phenol by Al/Zr Pillared Clay Catalyst

Single and mixed oxide Al/Zr-pillared clay (Al/Zr-PILC) catalysts were synthesized and tested for catalytic wet air oxidation (CWAO) of aqueous phenol solution under milder conditions, in a semi-batch reactor. The catalysts were synthesized from natural bentonite clay using ultrasonic treatment during the aging and intercalation steps and were characterized <...

LPG Power -

LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) is a petroleum derived, colorless gas, typically comprised of mainly propane, butane, or a combination of these two constituents. LPG fuel for vehicles is actually a mixture of various hydrocarbons which are gases at atmospheric pressure and temperature but which liquefy at higher pressures like less than 200 psi. LPG is a natural derivative of both natural gas and...
